Australian Organic cotton t-shirts  [11, Dec 07]  << Back
Planet friendly dressing for Kiah & I is easy, we just wear 2nd hand or upcycled (skirt to dress, dress to skirt, jumper to trousers etc.) but Ray is a whole other story. Not a lot of plain black t-shirts in my local charity shops. I was buying Hemp t-shirts, but it isn't exactly cutting down the product miles buying shirts from China. So I was very happy to find similarly priced locally made shirts from a non-irrigated organic cotton farm in NSW. Here is the blurb from the site:
The cotton in our ‘Certton’ range of t-shirts is grown in Narrabri, NSW Australia. This cotton is certified organic by the BFA. Certified organic cotton is farmed without the use of pesticides, genetically modified seed or synthetic fertilizers. The soil is built up over the years to retain moisture and fungus enabling in our case the organic cotton to prosper on a dry land (non-irrigated) farm.

They look pretty good too, better than I expected from the product pictures. Link: Organic Cotton Advantage.
